Eight things that you can do to keep your baby safer inside your home

Of course you will do whatever it takes to keep your baby safe. Chances are your baby probably spends most of his or her time at home so let's start with child safety locks.

Types of Child Safety Locks On the Market

Parents, when given the opportunity, will do whatever it takes to keep their baby or toddler safe, especially from dangers in the house. Using child safety straps and locks will help you make sure the environment is the safest for baby, especially when in the bathroom or kitchen. There are a lot of choices of baby safety locks so you need to pay attention to the following choices out there so you can pick the right one(s) for your house.

Here is some child safety latches to choose from:

Adhesive Mounted Magnet Locks
These are not great when it comes to child safety as they just use magnets on the cabinet to keep the door closed. A strong baby can get around these so makes sure you put dangerous items up high and away from baby.

Adhesive Mount Magnet Lock Starter Set
These use a key that you leave in place when the cabinet is unlocked. Remove the key and the cabinet is locked. It is fairly easy to use at grandma’s house because they can be disabled when the baby is not around.

Swivel Drawer and Cabinet Locks
These are or swivel drawers and cabinets and aren’t meant for doors. You can open them in one hand and require screwdrivers to install. They are relatively permanent until you take the screws out again.

Adhesive Mount Cabinet / Drawer Lock
No hardware is necessary to install this type of lock. It is a good idea to use these on mirrored cabinets. It used adhesive-mounting and is not able to be disabled without ruining the whole thing.

Sliding Cabinet Locks
These just go over cabinet handles and lock them together. They are quick and easy to install without hassle. Unfortunately, they are unsightly and babies can see these as a challenge to overcome.

Door Flip Lock
These are for regular doors and keep kids from getting into rooms they should not. Put them on the door and flip them when you want to get through the door.

Toilet Lid Locks
These prevent the baby from drowning in the toilet or from playing in the toilet.

Stove Knob Covers
These are covers you put over the stove knobs to keep the baby from turning on the stove or oven accidentally. They are easy for adults to operate, however.

Child safety is important in every home that has kids in it. There are many hazards in the home that can endanger a child if you don’t use the proper child proofing equipment.  Child safety locks and latches are a big part of the necessary safety equipment you need for your home, especially in the bathroom and kitchen. Use the child safety product that is the best for each drawer or cabinet and still keep up all poisons, cleaning supplies, medicines and cosmetics as they are especially dangerous. Don’t overlook the importance of watching your child at all times so that the baby doesn’t get into things it should not be into.
